100 Goals: Day 71 - Modular Day
100 Goals In 100 Days | Seventy-One
OK, so the idea of having a modular day is my latest experiment that has grown organically out of the 100 Goals In 100 Days process.
Here's the idea: Doing five things every day is easier to keep up with than doing 25 things. Easy enough so far, right? Well, let me offer a slight rephrasing: Doing five modules every day is easier to keep up with that doing 25 individual things. Can you see where this is going?
One of the first things I noticed was that when I started thinking about doing my "Mobility Exercises" instead of thinking about doing my "Back Exercises, Neck Exercises, Sciatica Stretching, Tibetan Five Rites, and Breathing Exercises," I began to get all five done more often, because I wasn't starting the single task of Back Exercises, I was starting the entire "Mobility Exercise" module.
Today's goal was about expanding that concept to the rest of the day, such that there is an Early Morning Module, a Daytime, an Early Evening Module, a Late Evening Module, and a Bedtime Module. Within each may be two or three Sub-Modules, e.g. The Early Morning Module has the "Mobility Exercise," "Breakfast Time," and "Get Ready" modules within it.
Now, I have five things that I do every day, within which I have Sub-Modules, within which I have all of the tasks and daily goals. The advantage of framing everything thusly is that one you start one, you have a clear path to the finish of that module, and so on. Things start to have an order, and if you find yourself off schedule, I can skip a Sub-Module and make a note to catch up on the weekend or during some free time.
Again, this is in a rather experimental phase. Thoughts? Ideas? Recipes?
